Johnny Unitas
1933 - 2002

Johnny Unitas

"He looks different than most quarterbacks. An inch over six feet, he appears shorter because of his stooped shoulders. His arms dangle loosely from the sockets, apparently out of rhythm with the body." "His feet toe in and he wore the high-topped black shoes of the lineman, giving his thin legs a heavy, weighted, appearance."

But the physical sketch does not sum to the truth of professional footballs greatest quarterback. "The Best there ever was" Johnny Unitas of the Baltimore Colts.

Throughout the sixties Unitas redefined the position of quarterback and rewrote the record books. Among the records he held when he left the game were completions (2,830), total yard (40,239), touchdowns (290), 300-yard games (26), and consecutive games with touchdown passes (47).
