Another Day at 307 Gay Street

Another Day at 307 Gay Street

This painting depicts a busy day on Cambridge, Maryland's popular Gay Street. Though the main focus of the painting is the Cambridge Town Hall/Firehouse, many of Gay Street's other landmarks are shown.

At the firehouse building, three engines, accompanied by the Chief 1 S.U.V., are ready to take on their next battle with fire. Many members of the community gaze at the spectacle as they stand on the sides of the street.

Also depicted to the right of Cambridge's finest firefighters are the buildings of other well-known local points. The white building with the arches in the background is the National Bank of Cambridge located on High Street, which runs parallel to Gay Street. To the direct right of the firehouse on Gay Street is the City Council Chambers, and adjacent to this lies the corner of the Dorchester County Public Library. Just above the City Council Chambers the steeple of the Christ Episcopal Church (also located on High Street) makes a slight appearance.
